Stay Next Door

The lodges and boathouse sit just next door, and have recently been refurbished. Enjoy your own space by the sea, with our pub ready when you are.

A Proper Pub By The Sea

Welcome To The Ancient Mariner Inn, Old Hunstanton

Just the sort of pub you hope to find by the sea. Good beer tap, fish and chips always on the menu, and a warm welcome whether you’ve walked the shoreline or wandered in after a day’s work. Pull up a chair, settle in and stay a while – there’s always something going on and a story being told in the bar. Reserve a table or just stop in – dogs are welcome too.

Our Menus

A Good Pint Waiting

The bar sits at the heart of the pub, with well-kept ales, familiar lagers and something cold ready after the beach. There’s no need to book – just walk on in. Find a spot at the bar, settle at a table, or take your pint out to the terrace when the weather’s good. There’s plenty else besides, from easy wines for the table to a nightcap before heading home.

Good Food Without A Fuss

Our menu keeps things simple. Fish and chips, grilled burgers, and hearty plates made for hungry walkers, kids with seaside appetites and locals looking for a quick bite. Alongside the classics, there’s always a changing dish of the day and a fresh fish on the hook, depending on what’s come in. There’s plenty of room, whether there’s two of you or ten of you – settle in for a good meal and a great sea view.

Out & About On The Coast

There’s plenty to discover beyond the pub. Wide sandy beaches, coastal walks, wildlife reserves, and classic seaside villages are all close by. If you’re planning a day out, take a look at our guide to the local area and see what the Norfolk coast has waiting for you.

Stay Next Door

Just next door, Le Strange Arms Lodges and Boathouse have been fully refurbished and offer self-catering, sociable stays by the sea.

Well set up for families, including the dog, groups and couples, they provide a comfortable base for exploring North Norfolk. Settle in, head out to the beach, and come back to the pub when the day winds down.
